Studii recente arata ca pityrosporum ovale poate activa complementul pe calea alterna properdinica, producand inflamatii. Acest fapt a dus la concluzia ca el poate fi implicat in declansarea sau intretinerea unor dermatoze cronice inflamatorii cum ar fi dermatita atopica sau psoriazisului. La bolnavii cu psoriazis au fost depistati si anticorpi antipityrosporum ovale circulanti, neintalniti la subiectii sanatosi. Noi am efectuat sistematic culturi din scuamele recoltate din placa de psoriazis pe mediul Sabauraud si am identificat de fiecare data prezenta pityrosporumului oval. Se stie ca cel mai utilizat medicament in tratamentul psoriazisului, antralinul, este si un inhibitor al cresterii pityrosporumului oval. Studiul nostru arata ca la un lot de 18 bolnavi cu psoriazis cu placi cronice, asocierea unei terapii antilevurice nu a dus la albirea mai rapida a leziunilor, insa a prelungit intervalul de timp pana la aparitia recidivelor.

The latest studies reveal that pityrosporum ovale can activate complement by alternative properdin pathway, producing inflamation. This fact leads to the conclusion that it may be involved in both the starting and the maintenance of some chronic inflamatory dermatosis such as the atopic dermatitis or psoriasis. In the case of the patients suffering from psoriasis there were revealed circulating antipityrosporum ovale antibodies which can't be found at the helthy people. We have constantly made cultures from the squamae taken from the psoriasis plaque on Sabauraud medium and every time we identified the presence of the Pityrosporum ovale. It is very well known that the most useful medicine, ditranol, is also an inhibitor of the Pityrosporum ovale developing. Our study demonstrates that on a lot of 18 plaques, an associating antilevuric therapy didn't lesd to a quicker clearing of the lesions but it delayed the relapse.
